Affiliate Disclosure

Some links on this site are affiliate links. Here is exactly what that means, what it pays, and what it does not buy.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a normal link with a code on the end that tells the seller I sent you. If you buy something after clicking one, I get a small commission.

You pay the same price either way. Some programs give you a discount or free credit for using the link, which is stated on the link where that applies.

Amazon

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Amazon prices change and are not guaranteed. Whatever Amazon shows you at checkout is the real price, not anything quoted here.

Where they appear

Only on review pages, and only for products I have actually run.

Every affiliate link is labelled as one, right next to the link. You will never have to guess. If a link is not labelled, it is not an affiliate link.

Most pages on this site have no affiliate link at all. Several of the tools reviewed here are free and open source and have no program to join. Those get a plain link or none.

What it does not buy

Nobody has paid for a review on this site, and nobody has been given one in exchange for anything. No company has been sent a draft before publication. No company has asked for a change. Nothing here was provided free in exchange for coverage.

The reviews on this site are mostly about things going wrong. A printer that ships with a published default password. A backup setting that quietly deleted the one backup a real recovery needed. A tool that got retired after three root causes for the same bug.

That is the point of them. A review that only says nice things is worth nothing to you and would be worth nothing to a seller either.

If a product gets worse, the review gets updated and the link comes off. That has to be true for any of this to be worth reading.

Hiring me

I also take paid work. See Hire Me.

That is a separate thing from affiliate links, and no client has any say over what gets written here.
